GUIDED TOUR OF THE SHELL (ROOF) OF LE CORBUSIER’S CHAPEL
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 3 p.m.
Guided tour of the roof (shell) of the chapel
Explore the roof of the chapel of Notre-Dame du Haut in Ronchamp with a guide for one hour. This is an unforgettable experience !
The shell of the chapel of Notre-Dame du Haut in Ronchamp is more than just a simple roof. It is a monumental sculpture made of concrete that covers the building like a second skin. This organic and expressive shape, characteristic of the Le Corbusier’s style, revolutionizes religious architecture in the XXth century.
The shell is technically designed like an airplane wing, composed of two concrete membranes 6 centimeters thick, spaced 2,26 meters apart.
This activity appeals to both enthusiasts and experts. You will gain an understanding of the chapel’s constructive system and discover an aspect rarely accessible to the public.
It is important to note that the shell of the chapel is a dark, sometimes confined space, with slopes and heights.
